Crypt of the Everflame

Welcome to your Adventure Log!
A blog for your campaign

Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.

Setting Out

You have lived your whole life in the small town of Kassen, on the banks of the Tourondel River. The town was founded by a retired adventurer, Ekat Kessen, who built the small settlement in Nirmathas’ Fangwood Forest.

A villain named Asar Vergas brought a band of mercenaries to the area and repeatedly raided the town. Ekat led a group of townspeople in a battle against Vergas. There were great losses on both sides as Ekat slew Vergas and the mercenary band fled, but the town’s founder died of his wounds.

Ekat, the slain citizens and even Vergas and his mercenaries were all buried in a tomb about two days away. An eternal flame was placed above Kassen’s final resting place; thus, the Crypt of the Everflame. Every autumn, a contingent from the town is sent to the crypt to light a lantern from the everflame. It is brought back to town and preserved throughout the winter as a symbol of the town’s resilience.

This year, as is often the case, youngsters are chosen and the trek is treated as a rite of passage into adulthood. You four have been selected to visit the crypt. At midday of the 4th of Neth, the very day when Ekat Kassen and his men set out to deal with Asar Vergas, you set out on your journey to the crypt.
